Tracking down Notorious Marks in Final Fantasy 16 provides players with valuable crafting materials, experience, and Gil. Among the earlier C-Rank targets posted on the Hunt Board is the deadly aerial foe known as the Angel of Death, whose real name is Aruna. Locating this creature requires navigating a specific region in the Holy Empire of Sanbreque.

Where to Find the Angel of Death in Valisthea

To reach the hunt location, open your map and fast travel to the Northreach obelisk located in Sanbreque. From this waypoint, ride your Chocobo southwest into the open landscape known as Claireview.

As you approach the western edge of the Claireview region, head toward the narrow path leading south toward Lost Wing. Aruna can be seen hovering above a small grassy clearing right before entering the offshoot trail.

Prerequisites for Unlocking the Hunt

The Angel of Death mark will not appear immediately at the start of your journey. You must first unlock the Hunt Board feature during the main scenario quest titled The Gathering Storm.

Unlike some other bounties, the hunt posting for Aruna lacks a detailed picture, which can make searching for it confusing. However, checking the board after completing the necessary story progress ensures the target spawns in Claireview.

Combat Strategies for Defeating Aruna

Aruna utilizes wind-based magic and quick physical strikes similar to Garuda's harpy minions. Watch for her telegraphed wing swipes and vertical dive kicks, dodging to the side to create opening counters.

When she casts her linear wind burst, step out of the green pathway on the ground to stay safe. Using Phoenix's Heatwave ability allows you to absorb her ranged projectiles and strike back with amplified force.

Rewards for Completing the Hunt

Defeating the Angel of Death rewards Clive with 350 Experience Points, 40 Ability Points, and 6,200 Gil. You will also earn 10 Renown to spend at the Patron's Whisper back at the Hideaway.

Crucially, vanquishing Aruna drops the Clouded Eye crafting material. This rare component is essential for forging upgraded weapons and gear during the early-to-mid stage of the game.
